What David Bednar is trying to say is that the only we can be happy, and stay happy is if we have obedience. Which leads to doing the right, choosing the right and acting right. For example, if someone has chose to do the wrong at school, he or she weren't showing obedience at school which lead to not being happy and not remaining happy t he rest of that day.
